Part 4
This week, I’m going to finish this series by talking about resurrection power that I believe is fully accessible in this holy hour.
Let’s begin.
One thing I didn’t mention over the last two weeks was this moment that happened right after Jesus’ crucifixion.
At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people. When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!” Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.
-Matthew 27:51-56 NIV
Today, sightings are all about resurrections that happened without anyone touching them. I mean, holy people were walking around, and we have no idea how many years they had been dead. This is not a sentence that needs to be glossed over. Sometimes when people pass away, I believe it sends shock waves through the atmosphere for days and days. Prophecies of old were being fulfilled in present day. This day sent such shock waves that we are still talking about them today.
Next up:
I was walking the other day, and this passage stood out to me in my daily listening of the Bible. In these short sentences, there is a lot of lasting power.
Elisha died and was buried. Now Moabite raiders used to enter the country every spring. Once while some Israelites were burying a man, suddenly they saw a band of raiders; so they threw the man’s body into Elisha’s tomb. When the body touched Elisha’s bones, the man came to life and stood up on his feet.
-2 Kings 13:20-21 NIV
We don’t get to hear what happened after that, but let me tell you, that is some kind of anointing that even your dead bones can resurrect a man! It got me thinking: how many dead things are sitting inside our hearts needing to be resurrected in this hour? Does it take throwing them away in His presence to awaken them again?
Can you believe that even Elisha’s bones still had power to awaken a heart? No repentance. No good deeds. Just right place right time kind of living. Something gets me feeling buzzy inside (meaning excited) 🐝 ☺️
Here is one more example.
When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.” Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?” The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that moment.
-Matthew 8:5-13 NIV
There is something about military men who understand authority at a different level then us civilians understand. It speaks to me, for he truly cared about his servant enough to come and ask, and because he asked, Jesus granted that request. “‘Let it be done just as you believed it would.’ And his servant was healed in that moment.”
Moments matter in this Holy Ghost hour!
These moments defied natural progression and ultimately changed human history forever. Once we see something that’s possible, it makes us believe that it’s possible to happen again. This possibility creates an environment for faith to start rising. There we start more deeply abiding in the Vine, and that abiding becomes a lifeline of thriving. I think that is what matters most when walking with the Divine Holy Ghost. ☺️
I hope this series about resurrection power has gotten your insides firing! All He asked us to do is follow Him and to love others. May we take what we have learn and give it away to as many people He brings into our path. Amen and amen.
This song references those bones being resurrected and so I’ve included it to end this series here today.
