Happy Monday,
It’s harvest time and the cotton is in full bloom, creating the look of white fluffy goodness. That brings me to a scripture passage, so I’m going to sit with this here today:
“And at this point His disciples came, and they marveled that He talked with a woman; yet no one said, ‘What do You seek?’ or, ‘Why are You talking with her?’ The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, ‘Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?’ Then they went out of the city and came to Him. In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, ‘Rabbi, eat.’ But He said to them, ‘I have food to eat of which you do not know.’ Therefore the disciples said to one another, ‘Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?’ Jesus said to them, ‘My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. Do you not say, “There are still four months and then comes the harvest”? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this the saying is true: “One sows and another reaps.” I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.’”
John 4:27-38 NKJV
I can’t help but give you this again in The Passion Translation to see if something else sparks your heart:
“Then the disciples began to insist that Jesus eat some of the food they brought back with them, saying, ‘Teacher, you must eat something.’ But Jesus told them, ‘I have eaten a meal you don’t know about.’ Puzzled by this, the disciples began to discuss it among themselves, ‘Did someone already bring him food?’ To clarify, Jesus spoke up and said, ‘My food is to do the will of him who sent me and bring it to completion.’ As the crowds emerged from the village, Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Why would you say, “The harvest is another four months away”? Look at all the people coming—now is harvest time! Their hearts are like vast fields of ripened grain—ready for a harvest. Everyone who reaps these souls for eternal life will receive a reward. Both those who plant spiritual seeds and those who reap the spiritual harvest will celebrate together with great joy! And this confirms the saying, “One sows the seed and another reaps the harvest.” I have sent you out to harvest a field that you haven’t planted, where many others have labored long and hard before you. And now you are privileged to profit from their labors and reap the harvest.’ Many from the Samaritan village became believers in Jesus because of the woman’s testimony: ‘He told me everything I ever did!’ Then they begged Jesus to stay with them, so he stayed there for two days, resulting in many more coming to faith in him because of his message. The Samaritans said to the woman, ‘Now we’ve heard him ourselves. We no longer believe just because of what you told us, but we’re convinced that he really is the true Savior of the world!’”
John 4:31-42 TPT
You see, since Ben crossed over into eternity, I have made a conscious choice to sit and be that woman at the well. And what happened? The people said, “We no longer believe just because of what you told us, but we’re convinced that He really is the true Savior of the world.” Our holy commission is to go and tell the stories. As I have experienced His loving kindness and generosity, I’m compelled to send a message out that I hope mends another’s heart.
This is something Jesus told the woman in this same chapter a few verses above.
“Believe me, dear woman, the time has come when you will worship the Father neither on a mountain nor in Jerusalem, but in your heart. Your people don’t really know the One they worship, but we Jews worship out of our experience, for it’s from the Jews that salvation is available. From now on, worshiping the Father will not be a matter of the right place but with a right heart. For God is a Spirit, and he longs to have sincere worshipers who adore him in the realm of the Spirit and in truth.”
John 4:21-24 TPT
I know this might be a little more Bible for today, but my heart longs for you to feel His loving kindness through His words of truth. The Bible became color for me in 2017. The Samaritan woman’s response of an open heart discerned His words of truth. His words of truth compelled her to go and tell, for she also learned the posture of a true worshipper. He longs for us to adore Him in the realm of the Spirit and in truth. The harvest is white. We see it all around us in the natural. But, we can dismiss the call and say, “well, I’m not a farmer…I don’t need to harvest that field…it’s someone else’s crop,” but this passage clearly states: One sows the seed and another reaps the harvest.
“Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.’”
Matthew 9:35-38 NKJV
Again, I’m going to give it to you in The Passion:
“Jesus walked throughout the region with the joyful message of God’s kingdom realm. He taught in their meeting houses, and wherever he went he demonstrated God’s power by healing every kind of disease and illness. When he saw the vast crowds of people, Jesus’ heart was deeply moved with compassion, because they seemed weary and helpless, like wandering sheep without a shepherd. He turned to his disciples and said, ‘The harvest is huge and ripe! But there are not enough harvesters to bring it all in. As you go, plead with the Owner of the Harvest to thrust out many more reapers to harvest his grain!’”

Jesus gives a joyful message!!
It’s Harvest time and I want to challenge you this month to share words of life. Share joyful messages. I know life is hard. Hard things are happening all around us, to us, and within us. But, this is US. We can be real. We can be raw. We can walk with an achy heart, yet still walk with His light. That light guides. The more we abide, the brighter the light seems to get, which helps us follow from a place of peace and rest.
Well, I think I have gotten this point across. It’s harvest time, so let’s keep walking with the Divine. He walks with a rhyme and a rhythm, at least He does with me. It’s been a joy/struggle to surrender to the Mender and discover the treasures hidden within His spirit written pages.
