HAPPY THANKS-GIVING!
It’s Thanksgiving week and families are going to be getting some needed time off. Food will be purchased. Christmas trees will be going up. Turkeys will be baked. So many good casseroles will be baked. Desserts will be baked.
I’m curious, are you a baker, cook, or griller? Also, what is your favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal that you will be anticipating to eat this week? Comment below, I would love to know!
“And in the midst of everything be always giving thanks, for this is God’s perfect plan for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18 TPT
“You can pass through his open gates with the password of praise. Come right into his presence with thanksgiving. Come bring your thank offering to him and affectionately bless his beautiful name!”
Psalms 100:4 TPT
“Always give thanks to Father God for every person he brings into your life in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Ephesians 5:20 TPT
This is the perfect segue into my next moment of thankfulness.
For the last four years, I have been receiving massages from Kathara Spa and it has been critical to my grief recovery. I call it touch therapy. My sudden change moment happened 12 days before my birthday, so I got some gift cards and redeemed it right away. Looking back, this was key to me maintaining a less pained body. You see, grief has a way of attacking not only your heart but your nervous system and muscle tension. This has been an indicator of stress for me ever since that SUDDENLY day. I don’t go to them as a luxury thing. I go because it’s a reoccurring pain thing. I have also included reflexology, walking, journaling and more time in prayer. These are some of the ways that I have found to help destress holistically.
So, we will be posting a little registry here to put your name in the pool. If you live locally near the Hampton Roads area, please register for a gift card to Kathara Spa. By next Monday, we will let you know who has received a free service from me and the Sending and Mending team. It’s time to make some Sending and Mending memories and giving back is our favorite way.
Also, if someone comes to your mind to bless this holiday season after reading this, DO IT! It might just mend a tired heart, but usually the giver is more deeply blessed than the receiver. For, our obedience opens our hearts wider with every choice of generous obedience.
Now, with all that said, our local chamber is also putting something fun together this December to feature our neighbors.
DO BUSINESS WITH YOUR NEIGHBORS!
OUR NEIGBORHOOD - DID YOU KNOW? is a new, fun way to inform the community about all the great businesses we have right here at home. Of course, retailers & restaurants are top of mind for the holidays (SHOP LOCAL!). “DID YOU KNOW" will help you to find that perfect gift or where to meet for holiday drinks, meals & music.
So many businesses support us and our community.
As 2021 comes to a close, do you need to plan a holiday party, buy a new car, get your vehicle serviced, update your will, have your HVAC tuned up, have your pet groomed or boarded, plan a trip, prepare your taxes, buy or sell property, timber or a home, review your insurance policies, make a donation or volunteer for a non-profit, plan for retirement, refinance a loan, get a massage, etc., etc.?
All of these services and more are available right here at home! You CAN find it here and get exceptional customer service from your neighbors. The Chamber will shout it out to everyone too, so here are the details below.
This was so fun last year as a chamber member to participate in. You can see it’s a minimal fee to get your business involved. Over 5,000 views is an amazing opportunity to start the new year off with a bang.💥
So, shop local! Send a little holiday cheer by picking up a Kathara Spa gift card and don’t forget to register yourself or a friend to win a free massage before the end of the week. We will inform the winner by next Monday. Kathara will hold the gift card until the winner decides to redeem it.
Lastly, everyone who has been reading these blogs for the last two years, THANK YOU!! It has been a place to park my heart and the Spirit continues to send me something that sparks my heart to write about. God is up to something and I can’t wait to take you on this adventure called Sending and Mending. It’s been humbling. It’s been so fun to honor so many amazing people and businesses in our community this year. Honoring each other is a kingdom activity kind of living. We are so use to just grinding day to day, but in harder times, which we are currently living in, we need to slow down and thank the ones we love more often. I hope you feel your heart expanding while reading this here today. For, I truly love deeply and I hope it comes across here every week when you choose to read.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!
Until next time,
